Bill Dolan serves as chief executive officer of Children’s Hunger Alliance, the not-for-profit organization committed to ending childhood hunger in Ohio.
Prior to joining the agency, Dolan cultivated more than 20 years of senior management experience, having served as chief operating officer for Mark Pi International and in multiple senior leadership capacities for Rax restaurants.
Dolan joined Children’s Hunger Alliance in 1994, with the goal of leveraging his senior management experience to empower the agency to increase operational efficiencies and feed the hungry minds and bodies of an increasing number of children throughout Ohio.
Under Dolan’s direction, Children’s Hunger Alliance has accomplished just that. The organization now feeds more than 10,000 children each day via direct feeding programs, and serves thousands more children each day by empowering other community groups and organizations to expand access to food, nutrition education and quality child care.
Under Dolan’s guidance, Children’s Hunger Alliance has become a model for non-profit organizational efficiency – with 94% of all funds going directly to programs and services. Under Dolan’s leadership, Children’s Hunger Alliance has also earned recognition for its commitment to operational integrity. Children’s Hunger Alliance is certified by the central Ohio Better Business Bureau for having met Wise Giving Alliance Standards, and was named a 2005 finalist for the Better Business Bureau’s Integrity Awards. Children’s Hunger Alliance is also one of only eight non-profit organizations to meet the Ohio Association of Nonprofit Organization’s (OANA) Ohio Standards for Excellence. The organization has also earned several Congressional Hunger Center and Points of Lights awards.
Dolan has also been personally honored by many organizations for his commitment to childhood hunger issues, and for the business acumen that he has brought to Children’s Hunger Alliance. He is a recipient of the Downtown (Columbus) Rotary’s “Service Above Self” award and The Ohio State University’s “Community Service” award. He was a 2001 finalist for the Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year award, an honor which he won in 2004.
Dolan and his wife Maureen reside in Columbus, and he serves on a variety of state and national boards of directors and committees, including the Ohio Association of Nonprofit Organizations (OANO), OSU Hospitality Management and Ohio Adult Emergency Assistance and Columbus State Community College. He earned a master’s degree in business administration (MBA) from The Ohio State University and a bachelor’s degree in sociology from Bethany College in West Virginia.
