Jim Couts

Jim Couts is Founder and President of the Appalachian Nutrition Network. During the past 35 years he has been instrumental in developing soup kitchens, neighborhood health clinics, food pantries, and a multitude of other community programs. He was largely responsible for the reinstatement of the school nutrition program in the Marietta City Schools as well as summer feeding programs that have received the Congressional Hunger Award and the Children's Hunger Alliance Award for Excellence. Recently Jim was granted the Jenco Foundation Award for Community Service and was nominated for the Ford Foundation Leadership Award. The Appalachian Nutrition Network now provides summer and after school meals throughout Southeast Ohio and West Virginia making it the largest rural summer program in the nation.
