JudyAnn Bigby, MD

Dr. Bigby is a practicing physician at Brigham and Women’s Hospital and Associate Professor of Medicine at Harvard Medical School. She is the Director of Community Health programs at BWH. She is a graduate of Wellesley College and Harvard Medical School. Dr. Bigby is nationally recognized for her expertise in women’s health and for her work on substance abuse, breast cancer and the health of reproductive aged women. She is the editor of the book Cross-Cultural Medical Care and has published more than 50 articles and book chapters on health care focused on the care of underserved populations.

She was named one of the top 25 African American female physicians in the U.S. by Essence magazine and is one of 100 women physicians featured in the National Library of Medicine’s exhibit Changing the Face of Medicine: Celebrating America’s Women Physicians. Her awards and honors include the Academic Leadership in Primary Care Award from the Morehouse School of Medicine, the Mary Horrigan Connors Award for Outstanding Leadership in Women’s Health from Brigham and Women’s Hospital, and the David H. Mulligan Award for Leadership and Public Service from the Boston Public Health Commission. She is a past president of the Society of General Internal Medicine.
